A YouTube content strategy built on what buyers ask AI

Short answer

Make videos that answer the questions your buyers ask before they buy. Start with comparisons, “best tool for” questions and setup tutorials. Pick the subjects where AI and Google already show videos but the current ones are weak. Then publish one well-made video every week or two.

The method

Build your YouTube strategy in five steps

This works for any B2B company, with or without a channel today.

  1. 1

Start from buyer questions, not keywords

Write the questions people ask before they buy a product like yours. Use calls, support tickets, sales emails and Reddit. A question tells you the intent. A keyword doesn’t.

Aim for 20 questions. You will keep the best 5 to 10.

  2. 2

Sort them by how close they are to a purchase

Problem questions (“how do I…”) bring awareness. Comparison questions (“X vs Y”) and choice questions (“best tool for…”) bring buyers. Start with the second group: fewer views, more customers.

  3. 3

Check the demand for a video

For each question, look at three signals. Does AI or Google already show a video? Did a small channel get big views on it? Do people search it? Two signals out of three is enough.

If AI cites only articles for a question, a video may not be what people want there.

  4. 4

    Pick the right format

Tutorials for “how to” questions. Comparisons for “X vs Y”. Walkthroughs for “how does it work”. Lists of mistakes for broad topics. The format follows the question.

  5. 5

Brief every video, then keep a pace

Write a short brief before you film: the question, the angle, the title, the chapters, the points to cover. Then publish at a pace you can hold. One good video every one or two weeks beats a burst of five.

With RankTube

Your strategy, ranked and briefed

RankTube turns your website into a ranked list of videos, with the research and the brief for each.

Step 3, automated

Subjects ranked by impact

Each subject gets a score out of 100 from four parts: how much AI trusts video on it, how weak the current videos are, whether you already cover it, and how present competitors are.

Step 4, automated

The research behind each subject

For the top subjects: the leading YouTube videos and outliers, what viewers say in comments, what the leading video misses, Google’s questions and search volumes.

Step 5, automated

A brief ready to film

An angle, 3 titles, a thumbnail idea, chapters with timestamps, the points to cover, a description and tags. Copy them straight into your script and YouTube Studio.

Free YouTube video brief template

Copy this template for every video. Fill it before you film. It takes 20 minutes and saves hours of editing.

Why most B2B YouTube strategies stall

Most company channels publish what the company wants to say. Product updates. Webinar recordings. Event recaps. Nobody searches for those.

Buyers search for answers to their own problems. The videos that answer them get found for years. They show up on Google. They get cited by AI. That is the strategy: answer questions, not announce things.

Comparisons deserve a special place. Buyers who compare are close to a decision. AI engines answer comparison questions often, and they like videos that name the alternatives fairly. An honest comparison can be your best-converting video.

How to pick subjects with real demand

Search volume alone is a weak signal. Many valuable B2B questions show zero volume in keyword tools. They are asked in ChatGPT, not in Google.

Use three signals instead:

  1. AI or Google already shows a video. The engine has decided the question needs one.
  2. A small channel got big views. The subject drives the views, not the audience.
  3. The current videos are weak. Old, vague, or off-topic. That is your opening.

When two of the three are true, the subject is worth a video.

How to measure your strategy

Views are not the goal. Buyers are. Track these for each video:

  • Where it ranks on YouTube search and Google for its question.
  • Whether AI cites it for that question.
  • What viewers do next: clicks on your link, sign-ups, demo requests.

Review the list every month. Update titles and descriptions of videos that rank but don’t get clicked. Drop subjects that don’t move.

FAQ

Questions about YouTube strategy

What is the best content strategy for a B2B YouTube channel?

Answer the questions your buyers ask before they buy. Start with comparisons and setup tutorials, publish at a steady pace, and measure whether your videos get found on Google, YouTube and in AI answers.

What YouTube videos should my business make first?

Comparison videos (“your category: X vs Y”) and tutorials for the main job your product does. They are close to a purchase, and AI engines often answer those questions with video.

How many videos should we publish per month?

Two to four is a good pace for most B2B teams. Consistency matters more than volume. A well-chosen video every week or two beats daily uploads on guessed topics.

Do we need to be on camera?

No. Screen recordings with a clear voice-over work well for tutorials and comparisons. A face helps trust, but the answer matters more.

Long videos or Shorts?

Long videos for B2B. They explain, rank in search and get cited by AI. Shorts can promote them, but they rarely bring buyers on their own.

How long before a YouTube strategy brings results?

Search-driven videos build slowly but last. Expect the first signals in a few weeks: Google video results, YouTube search positions, first AI citations. Then each video keeps working for years.
