How to use the tag extractor
- Copy the URL of any public YouTube video: a watch link, a youtu.be link or a Short.
- Paste it and extract. You get the video’s tags, the hashtags and chapters from its description, and its stats.
- Copy what you need: all tags in one click, ready for research or your own video.
What tags can and can’t do
Tags are hidden keywords a creator adds in YouTube Studio. YouTube describes them as a minor signal, mainly useful for misspellings. They won’t make a video rank on their own.
They are still useful for research: a competitor’s tags tell you which searches they aimed for, and comparing tags across the top videos on a topic shows the vocabulary of that niche.
What matters more than tags
- The title: it carries most of the weight. Try the title generator.
- The first lines of the description: they show in search results and are read first by AI engines. Try the description generator.
- Chapters: Google can link to the exact moment that answers a search. Try the chapters generator.
- The subject itself: a video that answers a question people ask beats any tag. The outlier finder shows which subjects win.
