How to use the description generator

  1. Enter the video title, ideally phrased the way people search.
  2. Describe what the video covers in a few lines or bullets: the question, the steps, the tools, who it is for. The more specific you are, the better the description.
  3. Add a link if you want one in the description, like a demo, a guide or a free trial.
  4. Copy the description, add your real chapters, and paste it in YouTube Studio.

The structure we use

  • A direct answer first. One or two sentences that answer the video’s question. This is what shows in search results and what AI engines read first.
  • Two short paragraphs on what the video covers and who it is for.
  • Your link, early enough to be seen.
  • Key points: what the viewer learns, in a scannable list.
  • Chapters: generate them with the chapters generator.
  • A short FAQ with the related questions people ask.
  • Three hashtags.

AI assistants and Google don’t watch your whole video before citing it. They rely on the title, the description, the chapters and the transcript to decide what the video answers. A description that clearly states the question and the answer makes that decision easy.

From one description to a video plan

Writing a good description starts with picking a subject people ask about. RankTube finds those questions for your company and writes a ready-to-film brief for each video, description included.

FAQ

Questions about this free tool

What should the first lines of a YouTube description say?

The direct answer to the question your video covers, with its main keyword. Only the first 150 characters or so show in search results, and they are what search engines and AI read first.

How long should a YouTube description be?

Long enough to explain the video: 200 to 400 words is a good range. YouTube allows up to 5,000 characters, but the first lines matter most.

Why add an FAQ to a YouTube description?

A short FAQ answers the related questions people ask about the topic, in their words. It gives search engines and AI assistants more ways to match your video to a question.

How many hashtags should I use?

Three is enough. YouTube shows the first three above the title, and too many can make the video look like spam.

Will the generator invent things about my product?

It is told to use only what you write in the summary. Always read the description before publishing and fix anything that isn’t right.
