How to use the chapters generator
- Paste your transcript with timestamps for exact chapters, or your script or outline for estimated ones.
- Enter the video length if your text has no timestamps.
- Copy the chapters and paste them in your YouTube description. YouTube needs the first one at 0:00, which the generator always sets.
Why chapters matter more than they look
Chapters split your video into named moments. Viewers jump to what they need instead of leaving, and search engines get a map of what the video covers.
That map is valuable. Google shows chapters as “key moments” in search results, and its AI Overviews often link to a precise second of a YouTube video rather than the whole video. A chapter titled “How to set up SSO in Okta” can be the exact moment Google sends someone to.
How to write good chapter titles
- Name what happens, not where you are. “Connect your CRM” beats “Part 2”.
- Use the words people search for: each chapter can answer its own small question.
- Keep them short: 3 to 8 words reads well on the progress bar.
- Avoid tiny chapters. 30 seconds or more per chapter keeps the list useful.
Make the whole page consistent
Chapters work best with a title and description that use the same words. Try the title generator and the description generator, or let RankTube write chapters, titles and the full brief for the next video your buyers need.
