Why YouTube is a founder’s best bet in AI search
Founders usually skip YouTube because it looks slow: you need subscribers, editing skills, a schedule. For AI search, most of that doesn’t matter. When someone asks ChatGPT or Google how to solve a problem, the engine looks for the clearest answer, and a 6-minute screen recording from a founder can be exactly that.
A video also keeps working. A good tutorial gets found on YouTube for years, shows up in Google’s video results, and keeps being cited by AI assistants while your blog posts slide down the page.
Pick subjects like a founder
You can’t make 50 videos. You can make 5 good ones. The best subjects for a small SaaS share three traits:
- Buyers ask them before choosing a tool. “How to do X”, “X vs Y”, “best tool for X”.
- AI already answers them with video. That proves the engine wants a video for this question.
- The current videos are weak. Old, off-topic, or from channels that don’t really know the subject.
RankTube scores every subject on these signals, so the top of the list is where one video can move the most.
Make each video count
- Answer in the first 30 seconds. Say what the viewer will be able to do by the end.
- Use the buyer’s words in the title. Our free title generator helps.
- Add chapters. Google links to the exact moment that answers the search.
- Show the product only where it helps. The video should be useful even to people who never sign up.
